Rochemenier Village Museum invites you on a journey in the footsteps of our ancestors.

Since 1967, the museum has presented two old underground farms, out of the 40 located in the village.

In the heart of the troglodytic village of Rochemenier, the museum occupies ancient dwellings dug directly into the soft limestone (falun). This remarkable site tells the story of the inhabitants who, since the Middle Ages, shaped the rock to live, work, and shelter within it.

Through a scenographic tour, discover homes, stables, barns, and an underground chapel, all passionately restored.

Collections of objects, tools, and photos trace the daily life of the Troglodytes in the 19th century.

Flavours of the Troglodytes (Saveurs des Troglos)

A true immersion into local culinary heritage!

"Flavours of the Troglodytes" is a true immersion into local culinary heritage. Meet regional producers during an immersive tour of two troglodyte farms and awaken your senses with an unforgettable gourmet experience.

Witness the famous ancestral fouées being baked in the traditional farm oven and enjoy them on-site, plain or with sweet/savoury fillings. The dough, prepared by local baker Thierry Georget, is baked over a wood fire and refined by the Ô Bonnes Fouées team.
